When Disney first came out with the news that it will soon start a streaming service, many heads turned. Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (1937)
Originally a German fairy tale by the Brothers Grimm, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs developed into a timeless animated film by Walt Disney still and stands as one of the best animated movies ever. Deemed as a “culturally, historically, and aesthetically significant” film by the Library of Congress in 1989, the film has made a prominent place in theme parks, Halloween parties, and cultural events. Pinocchio (1940)
Originally an Italian children’s novel by Carlo Collodi, it was the second animated film by Walt Disney. With more experience from the previous animated feature film, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Pinocchio was an achievement in the fields of effects, movements, and elements such as lightning, smoke, shadows, and rain. Fantasia (1940)
Fantasia was the third animated feature film from Disney and it had seven short segments of animated cartoons put together to form the feature film. This concept was unique at the time, and it was first released as a theatrical roadshow held over thirteen different cities nationwide. One of the seven short animated shorts, “The Sorcerer’s Apprentice” featuring Mickey Mouse was one for the best animated short films produced at the time. All the segments are accompanied by classical music conducted by Leopold Stokowski. This film witnessed Disney honing their signature animation and elements.

Dumbo (1941)
One of Disney’s dearest characters came to life in 1941, with much simplicity yet managed to win the hearts of millions of people around the world. This movie was remade by Tim Burton as a live-action animated movie in 2019. However, the simple strokes are still classic and the heartfelt story still warms any viewer. Both the film and TV versions are a must-see from the Disney+ library.

Bambi (1942)
Based on the book, Bambi, a Life in the Woods by Austrian writer Felix Salten, the animated feature film, Bambi was one of the finest films Disney had ever produced. This film went on to inspire future filmmakers such as Andrew Stanton and is listed as one of AFI’s 10 top ten animated films. Bambi is the story of a mule deer fawn who loses his mother and encounters troubles from human hunters. Bambi grows up to be a brave mule deer.
